GE Fanuc Accompany Program

As a Cooperating GE Fanuc Accompany Program Partner Data-Linc Group provides the broadest line of industrial grade modems in the world, for wireless, dial-up/leased line, fiber optic and FSK wire data transmission. Data-Linc has focused its efforts toward insuring that the transmission of data between PLCs, RTUs, PCs and other automation equipment achieves the highest possible level of accuracy, reliability and integrity. Total interoperability and compatibility with GE Fanuc Automation Equipment assures simple connectivity as well as providing insurance  against potential operational problems. Data is transmitted by RS-232, 422, or 485 cabling, using CCM, RTU, SNP or SNP-X protocols. Modems and cables are supplied pre-configured by the factory for truly  simple installation (custom factory pre-configured means no modem field settings, programming or adapters).

  • PLC rack mount availability
PLC rack mount versions of most Data-Linc Modems (license free wireless, fiber optic, FSK wire and dial-up/leased line) are available, housed in the GE Fanuc Series 90-70 and Series 90-30TM enclosures, providing PLC rack mount capability, either powered off the back plane or with a Data-Linc wall mount transformer. When rack mount modems are not required, stand-alone metal enclosures with mounting flanges provide physical environment protection and EMI/RFI immunity.

SNP/SNPX multidrop communications between CMM Master connected to frequency hopping spread spectrum, license-free radio modem and two PLC rack mount Data-Linc radio modems connected to Series 90 Remote units as well as Data-Linc stand-alone radio modem attached to Micro PLC.
  • Factory configuration
Data-Linc Modems and connecting cables are factory configured for each  application, assuring a trouble-free installation (no modem field settings, programming or adapters required).
  • License-free wireless
All Data-Linc modems, including the license-free SRM6000 Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum Radio Modems and DLM4000 Dial-up/Leased Line Modems support SNP and SNP-X Series 90 protocols for remote programming and register download.
  • Long distance, wide temperature range
Radio Modem Data rates to 115.2 Kbaud. Distance to 90 miles with Repeaters. Operating temperatures from -40° to 167°F (-40° to +75°C). Dial-up/Leased Line Modems: -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F).
  • Versatile control
    Data-Linc modems support point-to-point, multi-point and multi-tier/multi-drop applications.
  • Robust technology
Data-Linc employs only the most robust communications technologies to assure exceptional data communications reliability and integrity for data acquisition, control and SCADA applications:
    • Frequency hopping spread spectrum wireless technology (902-928 MHz and 2.4-2.4835 GHz license free bands available) has exceptional immunity to interference and data transmission problems.
    • Frequency Shift Key (FSK) technology provides a high level of immunity to data transmission problems, providing the highest possible data reliability over any two conductor wire, shielded or unshielded, twisted or untwisted (No ground loop or shifting ground plane problems as well as immunity to EMI, noise and surge).
  • Resistence to sparking
Ability to transmit data across slip rings, sliding contacts, rolling wheels, shoes, brushes and conductor bars.
  • Existing wire operation
The Data-Linc MDL500 Series of FSK wire modems can even superimpose data on in-plant facility wiring, including AC/DC power lines, PBX telephone wires and instrument loop lines (simultaneously, without interfering with the current, voice or instrumentation signals being transmitted) thereby eliminating the time and expense of data cable installation.

Typical Industry Applications

  • Kingsbay Water/Wastewater Treatment
SCADA application at a water/wastewater treatment facility on the Kingsbay Submarine Base in Georgia, utilizing a total of 52 Data-Linc LLM1000* Long Lines FSK (Frequency Shift Key) Modems for data communications on spare pair and twisted pair wires between seven GE Fanuc 90-30 Model 331Master CPUs and from four to eight 90-30 Model 311 Remote CPUs at each remote pump site. Data communications at the Remotes is by the SNP-X port. A data acquisition software package is installed at the Master locations with graphic displays interconnected via Ethernet by fiber optic modems. (*Please note that the LLM1100 has replaced the LLM1000.)
  • Kennecott Copper
SCADA installation transmitting data with Data-Linc SRM6000 Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum Radio Modems (no site license required) between a GE Fanuc 90-70 Master and 90-30 Remote Processors to monitor and control deep wells and pump stations. Other radio modems previously tested had failed to perform reliably in the high EMI environment.
  • Wheatland Systems
Multi-drop application transmitting data between a GE Fanuc 90-70 Master and multiple GE Fanuc 90-30 Remote Processors using Data-Linc MDL500 Series FSK wire modems.

Data-Linc utilizes the most advanced Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology supporting serial and Ethernet connectivity for license-free wireless data transmission, as well as specialized Frequency Shift Key (FSK) techniques for data communications on any two conductor wire. Data-Linc provides an exceptional level of data reliability and integrity while also achieving superior performance, user friendly ease of installation and insurance against potential operational problems.
