Data-Linc Group Announces Simultaneous Remote and Repeater Mode on SRM6000 Radio Modem

Redmond, WA–October 4, 1999- Data-Linc Group, a leading manufacturer of industrial data communication solutions, announced today that a Remote/Repeater mode has been added to its popular spread spectrum SRM6000 Radio Modem line. This additional mode will support simultaneous Remote and Repeater operation, and enable a Remote location to also serve as a Repeater for communications with other remote Remotes.

The SRM6000 effectively performs both Remote and Repeater functions in one unit. This new mode eliminates the need for two separate radio modems and antennas, thereby reducing system costs and installation time. The SRM6000 employs a store and forward operation where received data is automatically passed to the Remote device (i.e.; an RTU) and is also transmitted to other remote Remote modems.

SRM6000 employs Data-Linc's Smart Spectrum^TM wireless frequency hopping technology. Smart Spectrum is field proven to perform in high interference environments and does not require an FCC/DOC site license.

The SRM6000 Remote/Repeater mode is ideal for many SCADA applications such as water/wastewater systems and oil/gas pipeline communications. For example, a radio modem and PLC are often required at the water tank for pump control. Because the tank location is frequently located at the highest point in the district, it is also an ideal location for a Repeater to reach the pump stations. One SRM6000 at the tank can now serve both functions.
