Data-Linc Group Announces Two New FastLinc Industrial
Ethernet Wireless Modems
October 26, 2006, Bellevue, WA Data-Linc Group has introduced two industrial wireless Ethernet modems to its popular LincView product line- the FastLinc FLC820G and the FastLinc FLC810E+. The new modems add higher speeds, longer range and greater flexibility to industrial network applications.
The FLC820G offers high speed communications (up to 54 Mbps) and flexible networking architectures using the IEEE 802.11g/b wireless standards. With its high-speed capability and industrial grade design, the FLC820G is ideal for demanding applications such as wireless Ethernet I/O, PLC communications, remote video and HMI/OPC server applications. Network security is ensured using WPA-PSK encryption and authentication.
The FLC820G includes Station Adapter, and Access Point, and Access Point With Repeater operation modes. Access Point with Repeater mode eliminates the need to install Ethernet cable to each access point and extends range by creating a wireless mesh network. Rated at a range up to 10 miles (17 km) with unobstructed line-of-sight (farther using additional FLC820Gs in AP With Repeating mode), the FLC820G is ideal for wireless Ethernet communications in challenging industrial environments. When long antenna coaxial cable is required, communication can still meet ranges up to 10 miles by using an amplifier at the Master location that boosts RF power to 1 Watt.
The FastLinc810E+ (FLC810E+) provides higher RF power (300 mW), the ability to connect multiple Ethernet devices in station adaptor mode, and a built-in router and operates up to 11 Mbps using IEEE 802.11b standards. Rated at a range up to 6 miles (10 km) with unobstructed line-of-sight (farther using repeaters), the FLC810E+ is ideal for wireless Ethernet communications in challenging industrial environments.
The FLC810E+ includes wireless bridge mode for linking remote plant networks, access point mode for creating wireless hotspots within industrial plants and station adapter mode for linking one or more devices to the plant network. A built-in Network Address Translations (NAT) router and DHCP server gives plant managers the option to create separate private networks.
Both the FLC820G and FLC810E+ are designed for harsh environments and are housed in sturdy, compact steel enclosures with an optional DIN rail clip for mounting. The FLC810E+ has an operating temperature of 40 to + 65 C° and the FCL820G has an extended range of 40 to +70 C°.
