Security Application Examples
Remote Wireless Video and PLC Based Security Applications
A basic wireless security system consisting of two SRM6210E wireless Ethernet modems (one Master and one Remote), a video server and a video camera can easily be expanded to monitor, for example, two sites requiring three modems, three video cameras and a motion detector. Because of the modular design, the system can be further extended as the need arises by adding other security equipment with the necessary Remote/Repeater at each surveillance location reporting back to the single Master.

Data-Linc Ethernet radio modems with Volpe Industries equipment provide solutions for critical security needs
Volpe Industries, Inc. selected Data-Linc Group as the main supplier of critical Ethernet radio modems used in its Homeland Security applications. The Data-Linc modems will be used to communicate with municipal water treatment plants, pump stations, reservoirs, power plants, remote oil rigs and any remote Homeland location that may be currently vulnerable. Volpe Industries specializes in remote video surveillance solutions with equipment specifically designed for remote, unmanned situations where security is a concern. Data-Linc modems were selected because the finely tuned circuitry produces the longest distance of transmission available as well as the superior data integrity.

Mobotix video monitoring via Data-Linc wireless Ethernet modems
Data-Linc Groups license-free wireless Ethernet modems are being used to connect a Mobotix M1M network camera to the Internet. This link is from downtown Seattle to Elliot Bay Marina 3 miles away using omni directional antennas. Links of 25 miles are possible with greater distances using Repeaters and/or directional antennas.
Wireless Ethernet Modem Supports Wireless Video
Data-Linc has completed the development of wireless video using a web cam which employs Ethernet as its primary connection for video download. The system combines the Ethernet web cam and Ethernet based PLC communications across the same wireless Ethernet radio link. Data transmission of video data at 7+ frames per second is possible using an omni directional antenna over a distance of 35 miles farther with Repeaters with line-of-sight. Data-Linc Tests Wireless Video
Data-Linc has completed the development of wireless video using an Axis200+ web cam which employs Ethernet as its primary connection for video download. Testing involved combining the Ethernet web cam and Ethernet based PLC communications across the same SRM6200E Ethernet radio link. Data-Linc Group wireless modems are ideal for the security industry. Remote Camera Control
A petroleum company in Texas uses Data-Linc's wireless Ethernet modem with Modicon PLCs to monitor alarms, then control a remote camera to view the alarm site.
Wireless Remote Security and Access Control
Using the Data-Linc Group SRM Wireless Ethernet/RS232 Solution for remote monitoring and access control has offers distinct advantages:
- Wireless Ethernet/RS232 license free 2.4GHz and 902 MHz technology
- Maximum immunity to interference and protection from intruders
- Multipoint signal transmission using several monitoring devices with line-of-sight omni directional antennas from locations more than 35 miles away-farther with Repeaters
- Seamless Integration with any legacy system or device, such as DVRs or Access Control units using Ethernet or RS232
Wireless Ethernet/RS232 is a true alternative to copper and fiber when you need access control to remote locations, for example, in the security industry.
Axis Wireless Video via Data-Linc modems
Data-Linc Group's wireless video employs Ethernet as its primary connection for video download in long range applications using an Axis200+ web cam. The system combines the Ethernet web cam and Ethernet based PLC communications across the same wireless Ethernet radio link. For more information contact sales@data-linc.com.
