Examples of LLM1100 and DLM4000 Leased Line Modem Applications

Municipal/Government— Water/Wastewater Treatment

SCADA application at a water/wastewater treatment facility on the Kingsbay Submarine Base in Georgia, utilizing a total of 52 Data-Linc LLM1000* Long Lines FSK (Frequency Shift Key) Modems for data communications on spare pair and twisted pair wires between seven GE Fanuc 90-30 Model 331Master CPUs and from four to eight 90-30 Model 311 Remote CPUs at each remote pump site. Data communications at the Remotes is by the SNP-X port. A data acquisition software package is installed at the Master locations with graphic displays interconnected via Ethernet by fiber optic modems. (*Please note that the LLM1100 has replaced the LLM1000.)

Oil and Gas/Petrochemical— Oilgear Company

Data-Linc DLM4000/LL Industrial Dial-Up/Leased Line Modem transmits data between GE Fanuc 90-30 PLC Processors over 10 mile leased line.

Oil and Gas/Petrochemical— pH Meter Control

Shell uses Data-Linc modems to transmit 4-20 mA from pH meter to control room on existing instrumentation lines, simultaneously, using A-A1000 Analog-Analog RTU Multiplexers and LLM1000 Long Lines Modems solving ground plane shift problem. (Please note that the LLM1100 has replaced the LLM1000, and the DDAA has replaced the A-A1000.)

Power/Utility— Contact Closure

Pacific Power transmits multiplexed contact closure and 4-20 mA data on spare pair in telephone cable using A-A1000 RTU Multiplexers and LLM1000 Long Lines Modems. (Please note that the LLM1100 has replaced the LLM1000, and the DDAA has replaced the A-A1000.)

Power/Utility— Pump Control

To multiplex and transmit 4-20 mA and contact closure data for pump control over 480VAC power lines, the plant is using D-D1000 RTU Multiplexer and LCM100-HV Line Carrier Modem. (Please note that the LLM1100 has replaced the LLM1000, and the DDAA has replaced the D-D1000.)

Power/Utility— Remote Site

BPA monitors and transmits eight 0-5VDC signals from remote site over 3 miles to central station using A-A1000-8 analog transmitter and receiver with LLM1000 Leased Line Modems. (Please note that the LLM1100 has replaced the LLM1000, and the DDAA has replaced the A-A1000.)

Traffic Control

The Washington State Department of Transportation has installed 40 Data-Linc LLM1000 Long Lines FSK Modems with Square D SY/MAX PLCs to extend their I/O distance capabilities. Many single outputs are multi-dropped several hundred feet apart to provide traffic control at electronic signs leading to a freeway tunnel. (Please note the LLM1100 has replaced the LLM1000.)
